Make way for royalty! King is a 3-year-old Rottweiler who may look imposing at first glance, but he’s a true sweetheart through and through. Housebroken, affectionate, and surprisingly easy to walk, King is the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people, and maybe stop to smell every bush along the way.
Despite his large frame, King is a bit underweight and still needs to gain some weight. Don’t worry though – his personality is already full-sized! He’s playful, loving, and polite. He’s always looking to connect, but is well-mannered and not pushy. King is also known for dishing out slobbery kisses to anyone lucky enough to earn one.
Volunteers say he’s a joy to walk, showing little interest in other dogs and preferring to stay focused on the adventure (and the smells) ahead. Due to his size and playful nature, King would likely do best in a home without small children. However, he has spent time through the shelter’s Weekend Warrior program with a family that included young kids and did fine. He’s smart, eager to please, and with the right family he could be a great companion to children of all ages. He’s also eligible for Dog for a Day and Weekend Warrior programs – perfect for seeing how things go at home before making a commitment.
King does have a condition called entropion, which causes his eyelids to roll inward. It doesn’t affect his vision, but it does leave him with irritated eyes and the need for soothing drops. The great news? Kind sponsors have already pledged to cover the cost of his surgery after adoption, so his future family will have support getting him the care he needs.
King is available for adoption at Fayette County Animal Shelter, located at 1131 Highway 74 South in Peachtree City. The shelter is open seven days a week—Monday through Friday from 11–5, and weekends from 12–5. Come meet King and see just how sweet life can be when you add some big Rottie love to your life!
