Boots: Big-Hearted, Bright-Eyed, and Best Buddy Material
Boots is one of those dogs you meet and instantly wonder why he’s still waiting at the shelter. At just 1 year old and about 50 pounds, he’s the perfect age and size for someone looking for a lovable, loyal companion. He’s dog and people friendly, and an all-around good boy.
Boots came to the shelter earlier this year with several siblings—all of whom have since been adopted. He had a rough start, arriving with an injury, but he’s all healed up and never let it dim his sweet, affectionate spirit. Volunteers describe him as a total love bug who just wants to give and receive affection.
So why is he still here? It is definitely not his fault. Sadly, it may be because he’s a black dog— statistics show that black dogs often wait 3 to 4 times longer to be adopted. Or maybe he’s been overlooked because he’s “average” without flashy colors or a dramatic story, just a genuinely good dog.
Boots has waited long enough. It’s no fun to grow up in a shelter! This sweet, young pup is ready for a forever home where he can be part of the family, play with new friends, and finally get the love he so freely offers.
Boots is available for adoption at Fayette County Animal Shelter, located at 1131 Highway 74 South in Peachtree City. The shelter is open seven days a week—Monday through Friday from 11–5, and weekends from 12–5. Come meet Boots and see just how extraordinary an “average” good dog can be.
