The Island of Dr. Libris opens this week Newsies, auditions coming soon!

Southside Theatre Guild, located at 20 W. Campbellton St. in Fairburn, is a busy place these
days and everything they have going on is fun for the whole family.

“The Island of Dr. Libris” opens May 15 and runs Thursdays through Sundays through May 25.
Young Billy is spending his summer at a lakeside cabin owned by the enigmatic Dr. Libris. He
discovers something strange and magical: whenever he opens the classic books from Dr. Libris’
private bookcase, he can hear the sounds of battles, dialogues, and even feel the ground
shake, as if the stories are coming to life on the island in the middle of the lake. Soon, Billy finds
the island inhabited by famous literary characters such as Hercules, Robin Hood, Maid Marian,
The Three Musketeers, Tom Sawyer, and Pollyanna. As these characters interact, their stories
intertwine and get complicated with the addition of some comic book heroes and villains. It falls
to Billy, using his imagination, to create a happy ending for everyone, including himself. Tickets

Disney’s Newsies will be the summer musical at the theater. Auditions take place Monday, May
26 and Tuesday, May 27 with callbacks for some key roles on Wednesday, May 28. Auditions
start at 7 p.m. and more information about the auditions can be found on stgplays.com. The
show will run Thursdays through Sundays, July 24 to August 3.
