PEACHTREE CITY, GA. (March 20, 2025)Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia, Fayette County’s World War II flying museum, will offer Atlanta area residents opportunities to see or experience flights in meticulously restored aircraft and connect with Georgia’s World War II aviation history at Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK).  Five vintage planes will arrive at PDK Airport May 24-25 for two days of exhibitions and flights, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The aviation event will help mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, the end of World War II in Europe, and 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Navy & Marines.

The historic aircraft restored and maintained by Airbase Georgia volunteers include a P-51 Mustang, SBD Dauntless dive bomber, LT-6 Mosquito, PT-19A Cornell trainer and a T-34 Mentor.  Living History Flight Experiences on Airbase Georgia aircraft at PDK can be scheduled at PDK May Rides Weekend.

The DeKalb-Peachtree Airport is the second busiest airport in the State of Georgia in its number of operations only behind Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

“DeKalb Peachtree Airport occupies the original site of Naval Air Station Atlanta, which trained Navy and Marine pilots during World War II.” said Airbase Georgia Leader Joel Perkins. “This event is a tremendous opportunity to introduce Atlanta residents to Airbase Georgia and exemplifies the mission of the CAF, which is to educate, inspire and honor. We are proud to honor the memory of the Greatest Generation by offering rides in our historic aircraft.”
