The community showed up and spoke up as JC Booth Middle celebrated World Read Aloud Day.

Every year on World Read Aloud Day, people around the globe read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy as a human right that belongs to all people.

At JC Booth, a wide array of readers turned out for the Warriors, joining with school administration and staff. There were administrators of other schools like Peachtree City Elementary Principal Amanda Cavin and district office personnel. There were key community servants like a librarian, a dentist, and Peachtree City Mayor Kim Learnard. Even students got into the fun, with many reading within their rooms and 8th graders volunteering to read to 6th grade classes.

Guest readers could bring any book that held meaning to them to share with the students.

World Read Aloud Day was established by an educator who witnessed the extreme poverty in Kenya and how poverty, along with the many obstacles children face every day, is preventing them from learning to read and write.
