First Baptist Church Peachtree City has partnered with First Baptist Hazlehurst to assist with restoration efforts in Jeff Davis County following the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Over the past two months, six teams have deployed to the area, clearing downed trees and debris from homes as part of the church’s H3 ministry: Helping Hands, Helping Hearts, Helping Heal.

“Hurricane Helene left parts of Jeff Davis County looking like a war zone,” said Missions Pastor Mark Matson. “We quickly mobilized over 40 volunteers from our church and community to respond and bring hope to those in need.”

Teams served for two to five days each, with volunteers operating heavy equipment and dedicating personal time to recovery efforts. Senior Pastor Joey Rodgers shared, “Our church family believes in going beyond just sending aid—we aim to serve alongside our neighbors and build relationships, especially during difficult times.”

Additional Relief Efforts

First Baptist Peachtree City also organized several initiatives to meet immediate and ongoing needs in Hazlehurst, including:

  • Essential Supplies Drive: Distributing diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies just days after the storm.
  • Backpack Drive: Collecting over 200 backpacks for students in Jeff Davis County schools.
  • Food Donations: Donating nine pallets of food to help families in need.

Through these efforts, First Baptist Peachtree City has demonstrated a commitment to bringing hope, healing, and practical support to disaster victims.
