After months of relative silence, the sounds of old engines return to Minter’s Farm in south Fayette County this weekend as the third annual Inman Antique Expo kicks off the 2024 show season.
The Expo, which takes place on March 1-3, will feature many of the same exhibits, vendors and activities as the popular Inman Farm Heritage Days in September.
As usual the event is free for visitors and exhibitors, but donations are appreciated. (Inman Farm Heritage Days, Inc. is a 501C3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the local farming community.)
Show host Stephanie Minter Adamek said the Expo is one way the organization can further its mission.
“We’ve been very pleased with the growth of Inman Farm Heritage Days in September over the past 27 years,” Adamek said. “But we feel we can reach more people with a second show, since many families have a full plate of activities in the fall.
“And our exhibitors seem to like the idea of another opportunity to display their tractors, trucks, engines and equipment. When we first started our show, there were several others like it in the metro area but that’s no longer the case.”
When the Expo was begun three years ago, the old Inman Antique Truck Show was merged into the event, which means the show attracts a good number of antique trucks and cars.
“There’s something here for anyone who loves mechanical things, especially the old iron,” Adamek said, adding that like Heritage Days, there will be plenty to see and do for all visitors.
Several crafters and food vendors are on board as well as sellers of antiques and toys.
There will be blacksmiths demonstrating their crafts, an extensive moonshining exhibit hosted by the Betsill family, a grist mill in operation, an antique doll display, broom shop, printing press, machine shop, engine shop, sawmill, planning mill, shingle mill, clock shop, antique gun shop and an educational walking trail.
A dirt-moving exhibit features an antique dragline and a 1940s Caterpillar D8 will also be in operation.
