UPDATED 2 P.M. TUESDAY — Peachtree City Police are describing the death of a 15-year-old girl found dead this Tuesday morning at 6 a.m. at an apartment in Peachtree City as both a “homicide” and an “isolated incident” but no suspect had been arrested as of 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, according to Assistant Chief Matt Myers.

“It appears to be a homicide, but it was an isolated incident, and there is no reason for neighbors or the public to be concerned,” Myers said.

No suspect in the girl’s death has been identified or arrested, but “at this stage, we’re not ruling anybody in or out,” Myers said. “No suspect is in custody,” he said.

The girl had a “head injury,” Myers said, but the exact cause of death won’t be known pending a report from the medical examiner. Police are treating her death as a homicide, Myers said. Besides detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, the Regional Crime Scene unit of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the probe.

The girl’s mother found the deceased victim at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Myers said, adding, “The girl was last seen alive Monday evening.” Three persons lived at the apartment: the 15-year-old, the mother and the brother of the victim.

The apartment is in the old Harmony Village complex, now known as the Greens at Braelinn on Peachtree Station Circle off South Peachtree Parkway, south of Crosstown Road.

More information as it develops.
