With the help of their friends from Coweta Fayette EMC, Flat Rock Middle STEAM Careers and 8th grade Physical Science students investigated solar energy.

Building off of the students’ classroom unit on alternative energy, Maggie Reenstra, Community and Economic Development at Coweta Fayette EMC, brought along the sunny classroom demo kit. The kit includes a large solar panel, inverter, and battery to demonstrate alternative energy sources. Students are shown how many watts of power different devices need, and they also get to see hands-on the flow of energy from generation to use.

Reenstra also talked about the many technology jobs for students who pursue a degree in engineering or business, or for technical college graduates and apprentices.
