When the Suns wanted to learn more about the weather, they turned to an expert in Fox 5 meteorologist Ryan Beesley. Beesley visited with all of the 1st graders at Spring Hill Elementary during their weather unit and answered all of their questions.
Beesley brought the Fox 5 Storm Team Storm Chaser truck with him and showed off all of the cool tools and gizmos he uses to forecast the weather. Students had come up with questions for him about weather and how he uses patterns to predict our weather, and he was very excited to answer those questions.
He spoke about how reading, science, and math are an important part of becoming a meteorologist, even at an early age. He also talked about the importance of setting goals and working hard to achieve them.
Beesley shared a memory from elementary school when meteorologist David Chandley came to speak his class about being a meteorologist, and now Chandley is his boss.
For 1st grade teacher Janet Parris, she hopes the students now understand more about weather and weather patterns and tools.
“I hope they see a career that they could possibly grow up to be and the importance of doing well in school and making goals, even at an early age.”
