0Jabari Smith Jr. is off to launch his NBA career with the Houston Rockets, but he still found time to come home and give back to his community with a back-to-school backpack giveaway.
On August 1, Smith, the recent number 3 overall pick in the NBA draft, returned to his alma mater, Sandy Creek High. It was a massive turnout as families started showing up three hours early to line up in a queue that wrapped around the gymnasium to meet the rising star for autographs, photos, and to take home a free Adidas backpack.
