The Fayette County School Nutrition Program is dedicated to serving students delicious and nutritious meals, and they ensure it’s done the right way with ServSafe Certification. This year, 29 employees took the class on food safety and best practices.
Every school kitchen has to have one person on-site with a ServSafe Certificate, and Fayette SNP aims to have multiple people in each kitchen with the certification.
The course meets the state’s Certified Food Safety Manager (CFSM) requirements and is designed to provide participants with viable information on potentially hazardous foods and safe food handling practices: the HAACP system of food safety; establishing, purchasing, and receiving standards and procedures; designing facilities and selecting appropriate equipment and guidelines for working with regulatory agencies.
Participants are trained, tested, and certified with the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination.
