Math competition season is heating up. All five local high schools, along with East Coweta and Northgate, competed at the recent Fayette County Math Invitational Tournament hosted by Whitewater High.

It marked the return to face-to-face competition for the Fayette County Math Invitational for the first time since 2019. The competition consists of an individual written test and a group ciphering round where teams work together to solve problems, with both varsity and junior varsity divisions.

McIntosh finished 2nd place as a team at the varsity level, with Mike Zhang of McIntosh winning the individual title.

At the JV level, Starr’s Mill won the team title, followed by McIntosh and Whitewater in 2nd and 3rd. Nate Miller of McIntosh won 1st, with Layla Farmer of Sandy Creek in 3rd place.

Next up, all five local high schools will compete at the Griffin RESA math competition.
