Parents of students who will be eligible to attend the Fayette County Public School System’s state-funded Pre-K program for the 2022-23 school year can register their children for a lottery drawing beginning January 24.
Pre-K programs will be offered at Cleveland, Crabapple Lane, Fayetteville, Huddleston, Inman, Kedron, North Fayette, Oak Grove, Peachtree City, Sara Harp Minter, Spring Hill, and Robert J. Burch elementary schools. Students must be four years old on or before September 1, 2022 to be eligible for the program.
Registration for the lottery drawing will be held January 24 – February 28, 2022 from 8:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the schools offering Pre-K programs. Parents will be encouraged to schedule appointments with the IC clerk for registration.
The lottery drawing will be held on March 1, 2022 at the participating schools. Times will be announced by school.
Parents will need to bring the following documents to register for the drawing: child’s birth certificate (the child must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2022), parent identification, current electric bill, and proof of residency (most recent lease or property tax bill or closing statement).
Parents only (no children) may attend the lottery drawing. A total of 22 students will be selected for each class. School personnel will notify parents of those students whose names are drawn.
Due to the limited number of available openings at each school, there are no transfers or special permission opportunities for Pre-K students.
If there are vacancies at the end of the first day of school, and there are no students in the school attendance zone on the waiting list, students residing in any Fayette County school zone will be drawn from a second waiting list. In this case, parents are responsible for transportation to and from school.
Upon notification of admission (occurs on or shortly after the lottery drawing on March 1), parents will need to provide the required enrollment documentation for registration. These documents are posted on the school system’s website, www.fcboe.org. Click on the “general information” tab at the top and select the registration link. There is an online enrollment form to complete and a visit to the Enrollment and Records Center at 205 LaFayette Avenue in Fayetteville.
