UPDATED MONDAY NIGHT — Peachtree City Little League will have to battle back in the loser’s bracket Tuesday after a heart-breaking loss Monday night  to Virginia.

Virginia rallied to beat Peachtree City 6-to-5 with a walk off triple to win the right to advance to the Southeast Final.

Peachtree City’s state champion team was undefeated through state and regional competition, most recently winning its first two games in the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins over the weekend. First up was a 23-0 victory over West Virginia last Friday, followed the next day by a 2-1 win over Florida.

The team earned an off-day Sunday and was scheduled to return to the diamond Monday night against Virginia, the only other unbeaten team in the field. A loser’s bracket game between Florida and South Carolina was also set for Monday to determine the final three teams to play for the title.

The loss Monday forces the Georgia team to face the Florida-South Carolina winner Tuesday, while a win would launch them straight into the championship round, where one more win would send them back to Williamsport, Penn., for the Little League World Series. The final will be broadcast live by ESPN.

Peachtree City won four games without a defeat in the state tournament to qualify for the Southeast Regional.
