High school SkillsUSA teams finish in Top 10

Two high schools across the county earned top 10 placements in the 2018 SkillsUSA Champions Rally held at the Georgia National Fair Grounds in October.

Students from Sandy Creek High and Fayette County High placed in four of the six competitive events held at the rally. Students with the top 10 winning entries received a ribbon and a cash prize, and their entries were displayed at the Georgia National Fair. A total of four awards were earned by students from the two high schools.

Sandy Creek High students took three of the awards with Gianna Phan claiming second place in Chapter Banner; Liberty Harris received fourth place in Chapter T-Shirt Design; and Hannah Ohlmeier placed sixth in Chapter Recruitment Poster.

Sharing the Chapter Recruitment Poster category with Ohlmeier, Fayette County High students Timothy Johnson and Mashood Khan took eighth place.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA provides educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms
