Three students across three high schools have been selected as winners of the 2018 Positive Athlete Georgia award for the South Atlanta Region:

Nicholas Koenig (pictured), swim and dive, Whitewater High;

Ryan Cockes, lacrosse, Starr’s Mill High; and

Cameron Rothley, alternative, McIntosh High.

These student athletes were among over 5,400 throughout the state who were nominated for the award by coaches, teachers, parents, and fans for their positive outlooks, actions and inspiration to others. Only 30 athletes from the South Atlanta Region received the award.

Positive Athlete Georgia celebrates high school student athletes and coaches who give back, are involved in their schools and communities, overcome difficult circumstances, and embody the organizations seven definitions of a positive athlete: optimistic attitude, encouraging teammate, servant leader, heart for others, admits imperfections, always gives 100 percent, and puts team first.

In addition to being a Positive Athlete winner, Keonig was named a scholarship finalist for the region.
