Edward Rudolph Herber, 82, of Douglasville, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017.
He was born in Port Huron, Michigan on December 31, 1934 to the late Alexander and Dorothy Herber. Edward proudly volunteered to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Kathryn Herber and raised four children in the Atlanta area. Edward was a businessman working in multiple fields, and retired from Fulton County School System. He had a strong faith and lifelong involvement in his local church and supporting Christian ministries.
Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Herber, and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathryn Herber; children, Tom (Susan), Sharon (George), Jeannie, and Richard; grandchildren, Gary, Amy, Catherine, Elizabeth, and Robert; and siblings, Fred, Dorothy, and Mary.
A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Fayetteville with Father Richard Vu officiating. The family received friends from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
The family lovingly requests donations to the S.H.A.R.E. Military Initiative at the Shepherd Spinal Center, https://www.shepherd.org in lieu of flowers. This program treats veterans with brain injuries, PTSD and related conditions from combat.
