Mark Byrd Hopkins, age 64

Mark Byrd Hopkins, age 64, of Brooks, Ga., passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017.

Mr. Hopkins was born July 27, 1953, in Atlanta, to the late William Payne and Jeannine Byrd Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins graduated from Peach County High School in 1971, attended North Georgia College and went on to graduate from Georgia State University in 1979. He was retired from Delta Air Lines, where he worked in information technology. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Brooks.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Susan Smith Hopkins; daughter, Heather and Kevin Scott of Kennesaw; son, Dean & Courtney Hopkins of St. Johns, Fla.; grandchildren, Karson, Hudson & Brooklyn Scott of Kennesaw and Aubrey & Lucy Hopkins of St. Johns, Fla.; stepmother, Phyllis Hopkins of Hiawassee, Ga.; brothers, Douglas Hopkins of Atlanta and Joseph & Kathy Hopkins of Norcross.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Mowell Funeral Home, 180 North Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fort Valley, Ga. Reverend Charles Johnson will officiate.
