Kim Holman, a chaplain at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, recently completed a four-year process to earn the title of diplomate from the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy. She and Chaplain Jim Taylor were already board-certified chaplains, but the title of diplomate in supervision was the next level of certification that Holman wished to attain.

“Previously, I could supervise our Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students, but I had to report to a training supervisor,” said Holman. “Now, with my former training supervisor at Piedmont Henry (Chaplain Steve Austin) and myself, Piedmont has two chaplains certified at the highest level and can expand the CPE program faster.”

The process was rigorous. In addition to compiling hundreds of pages of reports, case studies, and an autobiography, Holman was also interviewed by a panel of national committee members in Orlando last month.

“This is a very good thing for our hospital and our students,” said Holman, who also said she was relieved that the process is over and she was eager to get back to work with her students and the patients and visitors who need her.

Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Piedmont Fayette. Phone 770-719-7002 for more information.
