The state football playoffs start Friday with local teams in action all across Georgia.
Here is a rundown of how the regular season ended and where teams are headed this week:
East Coweta (8-2, 4-1) won 28-0 over Newnan, is the second seed in 2-AAAAAAA and will host Woodstock in the first round.
Northgate (8-2, 6-2) lost 42-27 to Mays, is the third seed in 5-AAAAAA and will play at Centennial in the first round.
Fayette County (4-5-1, 2-4) lost 35-21 to Starr’s Mill, finished fifth in 3-AAAAA and the season is over.
McIntosh (4-6, 1-5) lost 49-24 to Whitewater, finished sixth in 3-AAAAA and the season is over.
Starr’s Mill (6-4, 5-1) won 35-21 over Fayette County, is the top seed in 3-AAAAA and will host Veterans in the first round.
Whitewater (8-2, 5-1) won 49-24 over McIntosh, is the third seed in 3-AAAAA and will play at Bainbridge in the first round.
Sandy Creek (7-3, 4-2) won 34-0 over Central-Carroll, is the third seed in 5-AAAA and will play at Marist in the first round.
Landmark (9-1, 6-1) lost 49-0 to ELCA, finished second in 5-A and seeded seventh in the A Private power rankings, earning a first-round bye and hosting the Walker-Darlington winner Nov. 18 or 19.
Our Lady of Mercy (3-7, 2-5) lost 28-12 to Holy Innocents, finished sixth in 5-A and the season is over.
