This past Sunday, Evergreen Church blessed more than 125 quilts made by Comfort Quilters, one of its mission partners.

The Comfort Quilters organization is dedicated to creating quilts that bring comfort, peace, and joy and love to their recipients. The quilts benefit persons of need, those medically and emotionally fragile, local community organizations, missions near and far, and charitable Christian works of all kinds.

Evergreen Church’s Comfort Quilters have made more than 200 sewn items this year, including quilts, receiving blankets, duffel bags, and pillow cases.

Some of the beneficiaries of these items were Bloom Closet, Southland Rehabilitations, Peachtree City police and fire services, and individuals who were in need of comforting.

The group has 20-plus members and averages 9-12 quilters in its weekly quilting sessions.

Comfort Quilters welcomes sewers of all abilities.

“If you can thread a needle or cut with scissors, there’s a place for you in Comfort Quilters,” a spokesperson said.
