Fayette attorneys named to state bar committees

Five Fayette County attorneys have been appointed to serve as members of standing, special or program committees of the 48,000-member State Bar of Georgia for 2016-17.

Philip S. Coe of the Coe Law Offices in Fayetteville was named vice chair of the Statewide Judicial Evaluation Committee, which advises the State Bar president and assists the Judicial Nominating Commission with regard to the qualifications of judicial candidates.

W. Thomas Lacy Jr. of The Lacy Law Firm P.C. in Peachtree City was also selected to serve on the Statewide Judicial Evaluation Committee, as well as the Business Court Committee, which monitors the performance of Georgia’s Business Court pilot project.

Kelli Byers Hooper of KBH Law in Fayetteville will serve on the iCivics Committee, which works toward implementing a comprehensive, standards-aligned online civics curriculum into Georgia’s eighth-grade classrooms.

Michelle R. Jones of Fayetteville was appointed to the Committee to Promote Inclusion in the Profession, which works to promote increased participation, retention and representation of historically underrepresented groups in the legal profession.

Roy B. Huff Jr. of Peachtree City was named to the Clients’ Security Fund Board of Trustees, which decides claims for compensation in accordance with the fund’s rules and policies.
