Board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners are now available for consultations 24 hours per day, seven days per week via Piedmont On Call, a virtual platform designed to help consumers get faster treatment for low-acuity, urgent healthcare needs via smartphone, tablet or computer.

Piedmont On Call allows consumers too busy to make a trip to the doctor to see a physician on demand for $49 per virtual visit. Patients can access this service today by visiting piedmont.org/oncall or downloading the free Piedmont On Call app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

“At Piedmont, we are always searching for new ways to make healthcare easy,” said Matt Gove, chief consumer officer at Piedmont Healthcare. “With Piedmont On Call, patients can be seen by a physician at any time and on any device without having to leave home or work. We want to make it easier for consumers to take charge of their health.”

Piedmont On Call is built on Carena’s Virtual Clinic Platform that includes software, staffing and operations services. It is fully integrated into Piedmont’s clinic-based care delivery system. The clinicians working in the virtual clinic will follow Piedmont’s practice guidelines to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. The virtual clinic helps current Piedmont patients stay in-network for continuous care, and helps new patients connect to a Piedmont provider after their virtual visit.

“We are pleased to partner with Piedmont Healthcare to offer patients new options for getting their care needs met,” said Ralph C. Derrickson, CEO of Carena. “Piedmont On Call uses our technology to put its brand online where it is most accessible to consumers, while offering patients an exceptional care experience from a health care system they know and trust.”

Piedmont On Call virtual visits are not covered by insurance and should not replace regular visits with a primary care physician. For more information, visit piedmont.org/oncall.
