Nine-year-old Andrew Fleming wants to fight hunger in Fayette County – and give you a tasty treat in the process.
His organization, Andrew’s Fun and Helpful Community, will sponsor a food drive during the 15th Annual Taste of Fayette. For every four non-perishable items you bring to the Taste of Fayette event, you’ll receive one token good towards a Taste purchase, while supplies last.
The food drive, which will benefit Fayette Samaritans, will be held Sunday, May 15, noon-4 p.m. at the Lane Brown Gazebo in downtown Fayetteville, during the Taste of Fayette event. Fayette Samaritans provides food and clothing, along with financial assistance for selected emergency needs. They have been serving Fayette County residents for over 20 years.
This year’s food drive is made possible thanks to a Sodexo Foundation Youth Grant through Youth Service America.
Andrew is just one of the young leaders across the country awarded grants to organize projects to help end childhood hunger. Grantees educate and mobilize their peers around the issue, creating solutions to end childhood hunger through awareness, service, advocacy, and philanthropy activities.
