The family of a former Fayette County man living in Chicago is filing suit against a convenience store company in connection with death of their son, a former Fayette County resident.
Marques Gaines, 32, died in February after an early morning altercation in Chicago near the intersection of North State Street and West Hubbard Street, according to news reports.
Gaines when in Fayette attended Sandy Creek High School, according to Fayette resident Deborah Angevine.
Gaines moved to Chicago from Fayette County in 2008.
The family has filed suit against the convenience store chain where the altercation that preceded Gaines’ death is reported to have been initiated. Gaines was later beaten and died after being struck by a cab, news reports said.
