The Coweta Community Foundation will host the Saturday Down South Sporting Clays and Southern Supper Saturday, May 21, 12:30-10 p.m. at Blalock Lakes Sporting Club. The Sporting Clays portion of the day begins with lunch at 12:30. Participants and guests are welcome for a Hunter Casual evening of Awards, a Southern Supper, Auction and Music beginning at 5:30.
Co-chairs for the event are CCF board member Susan Paulk and her husband, John Paulk; CCF board member James Welden and his wife, Kelley Welden; and CCF board member Will Conoly and his wife, Meredith Conoly.
“We are excited about this fundraising event,” said Susan Paulk. “It’s a unique and fun way to raise funds for our community!”
James Welden noted that the Foundation’s sporting clays shoots were originally the idea of the late Donald Nixon, a former board member. Successful sporting clays shoots were held for several years, Welden said, until the economic slowdown caused the events to be put on hold for a few years. Now it’s time for their return. This event is especially fun for attendees, Welden said, because it combines the competition phase earlier in the day with the more relaxed atmosphere of the dinner, auction and music later in the evening.
“It will be a very genteel, beautiful and quiet outdoor setting with great company, great food and dancing for those who wish,” he said. “We’re looking forward to a full day of casual, friendly competition and social enjoyment.” He noted this is a great opportunity to enjoy a wonderful outdoor event while also helping raise funds for a good cause.
“My wife, Meredith, and I are very excited about being able to help host and organize the First Annual Sporting Clays and Southern Supper event,” said Will Conoly. “The Coweta Community Foundation has played such an important role in this community since its inception, and we wholeheartedly support any efforts to increase awareness and to also raise funds that go directly back into Coweta County.”
