Emory University sophomore first base- man Ashley Powers, a 2014 graduate of Starr’s Mill High, has played a key role in helping the softball team to an overall record of 31-1 along with a No. 2 national ranking in NCAA Division III.

Powers has seen action in all 32 contests, 30 as a starter, and sports a batting average of .419, good for third place on the team and 11th among University Athletic Association players.

She has collected 36 hits in 86 plate appearances and ranks third on the squad with five home runs and fourth with 25 RBIs.

She is tied for second with 10 multi-hit outings and has driven in two or more runs on seven occasions.

Most recently, Powers helped Emory to a 6-0 mark during a six-game swing through the state of Virginia (Mar. 24-26), hitting .471 (8 of 17) with five RBI. One of her performances saw her come through with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate with two runs scored and four RBI, which included a three-run homer in a 12-2 triumph vs. Roanoke College (Mar. 26).

After playing a pair of exhibition games this Saturday (Apr. 2), Emory will play a doubleheader at Shorter College Apr. 7.
