Areas across Fayette County experienced four burglaries and two entering auto incidents during the Jan. 22-31 period. And in Peachtree City, a handgun was found in a sewer drain.
A Jan. 28 burglary on Turnbridge Circle in Peachtree City came after a forced entry to the residence. Officers responded to an alarm at approximately 8 p.m. The residence was cleared after finding that the rear patio door had been forced, according to police reports. Items missing were not reported. The home is located off MacDuff Parkway in Wilksmoor Village.
Less than a mile away across four-lane Ga. Highway 74, a second burglary in Peachtree City occurred on Jan. 29 on South Fairfield Drive. The homeowner told officers someone entered his garage and stole a bicycle, police reports said.
A burglary on Forest Drive off Ga. Highway 92 was reported on Jan. 29. Sheriff Barry Babb said deputies were told the burglary occurred between Jan. 14-18.
Babb said the front door was kicked-in and the home ransacked. The homeowner said she would provide a list of stolen items.
Another burglary involving a bank-owned vacant residence on Ga. Highway 279 was reported on Jan. 31.
Babb said an employee of a company doing yard work notified deputies after finding that the garage door had been forced open, Babb said.
A check of the home revealed minor damage to the master bedroom ceiling, said Babb.
Two entering auto incidents occurred in Peachtree City on Jan. 22. One occurred at a business on North Peachtree Parkway and involved a Hummer H3 while the other occurred at a nearby business, police reports said. Items missing were not known.
A Jan. 26 incident was reported to officers pertaining to a handgun found at The Fairways apartments on Peachtree Station Circle.
Officers were told that a .32 caliber handgun had been found in a sewer drain. A check of the serial number did not indicate that the gun had been stolen. It was unclear who put the gun in the sewer drain or who the owner might be, police reports said.
