The Fayette County Republican Party is sponsoring “Unity in the Community,” a free event scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 17, 5-7 p.m. at Sams Auditorium, 205 Lafayette Ave. in Fayetteville. A number of artists have been invited to perform at the event.
A bill was signed Nov. 2, 1983, by President Ronald Reagan to create a federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives and the holiday was observed for the first time Jan. 20, 1986.
