The Fayette Chamber of Commerce has announced the 30 members of its Leadership Fayette Class of 2016. For more than 30 years, the Leadership Fayette program has provided an opportunity for Fayette County’s citizens and stakeholders to better understand how our community works, build relationships with the region’s current and future leaders and be inspired to apply their talents to serve the community.
“The 2016 class of Leadership Fayette reflects a diverse and well-rounded group of leaders who share a common goal —to educate themselves about all aspects of Fayette County and to demonstrate their commitment to our community,” said Carlotta Ungaro, president and CEO of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce.
Each month from January to August, the Leadership Fayette class meets to learn about various community sectors and topics, as well as the interdependencies that connect them all together. From these sessions, the participants will gain first-hand experience and knowledge of Fayette’s strengths, challenges and the unique opportunities that are present at this time in Fayette County history.
Local, state and regional leaders will share insight, lead interactive exercises and participate in panel discussions. The class also features hands-on activities to bring a more in-depth perspective to multiple topics including: economic development, healthcare and social services, law enforcement and the justice system, education, and governance and civil discourse. At the end of the ten-month program, the class will complete a class project on civic engagement.
