Major David J Serafin was tapped by the Civil Air Patrol Georgia Wing commander, Col. Richard Greenwood, as the new Peachtree City Falcon Field Composite Squadron commander, taking over the reigns from Lt. Col. David Mitchell, at the CAP Christmas awards banquet Dec. 17 in Peachtree City.

Serafin is currently a Delta Air Lines MD88 captain. Past military experience includes U.S. Air Force C130 aircraft commander and T-37 instructor pilot. He joined CAP in 2011.

“I want to thank Lt. Col. David Mitchell for his service and leadership in leaving us the best squadron in the Georgia Wing and I hope to build on the momentum he left and build an even better squadron,” said Serafin. “It’s an honor to serve with a great group of volunteers.”

Cadet Commander 2nd Lt. Mason Awbrey handed over the reins to incoming cadet commander 1st Lt. Angela Waltman. She currently is building flying hours to obtain her pilot’s license.  Cadet Commander 2nd Lt Mason Awbrey, a high school senior, received the Commander’s Commendation Award for his leadership as cadet commander for the squadron.
