Students at Robert J. Burch Elementary have been busy this first semester learning about character as well as academics in the classroom. The Burch values of “Do your personal best” and “Be kind” are reinforced each day throughout the building, including the bus ride to and from school.
The bus drivers that serve Burch have been reinforcing good behavior such as listening, following directions, showing manners, and respect with points awarded each week.
Bus students are given the chance to host “Celebrity Riders” when they reach certain point goals. “Celebrity Riders” have included Fayette County Board of Education Superintendent Dr. Barrow, Coach Chip Walker from Sandy Creek High School, former professional athletes, community leaders and politicians, and even the Burch Bear mascot.
Students at Burch are finding that it pays to show your character values in and out of the classroom, throughout the building, and throughout your school day. Burch Bears know that character counts.
