2 vehicles reported stolen in north Fayette

Car thieves drove off two vehicles in north Fayette County the week of Nov. 24-30. One of the vehicles was stolen at a residence off Ga. Highway 92 North with the other was stolen at a residence off Milam Road in north Fayette.

The theft of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up was reported stolen from residence on Stanley Road off Hwy. 92 North on Nov. 28. Sheriff Barry Babb said relatives of the homeowner were housesitting during the period time of the theft which occurred between 8 p.m. on Nov. 27 and 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 28.

The owner said the vehicle was equipped with the OnStar system and called to make a report, Babb said, adding that deputies at the scene did not find any evidence, such as broken glass, that an entry into the vehicle had been forced.

OnStar located the vehicle in Stone Mountain then lost track of it. The owner was told the company would initiate an ignition lock that would be operational upon the next start-up, said Babb.

Babb said DeKalb police were notified.

A second vehicle theft occurred just after 7 a.m. on Nov. 30 at the Kenwood Landing Mobile Home Park on Milam Road in north Fayette. Babb said a 2005 Honda Odyssey was stolen from the driveway, adding that the keys were in the vehicle at the time of the theft.

The burglary occurred on Nov. 30 at the Weatherly Walk Apartments on Ga. Highway 54 East.

Fayetteville Police spokesman Mike Whitlow said the forced break-in through the front door occurred between 7-9:30 a.m. when an Xbox was stolen.

Whitlow said a male wearing a hoodie was seen in the area, as was a white vehicle, possibly a BMW.

Detectives are investigating the burglary, said Whitlow.
