The public is invited to tour Ella’s House on Clark Street in Senoia the first two weekends in November to benefit the Joseph Sams School.
It was named after Ella Marie Bynum, who was born on Valentine’s Day in 2011 with a rare metabolic disorder called nonketotic hyperglycinemia and lived 33 days.
“Even though her time was short, we have seen her life touch many people in our community,” said Ella’s parents, John and Mira Bynum. “Our prayer is this home built with the generous support of the members of Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia, will have great impact on the needs of The Joseph Sams School. It brings joy to our hearts to know her name and short life continues to contribute to those around us.”
John Bynum had the idea for a charity house about six months after she died but put it on the back shelf for a while until he became HBA president and was looking for a fundraiser to put the organization out in front of the community. He pitched the idea to some of his associates not planning to use Ella’s name.
“I was surprised and honored when they told me at the board meeting they thought it should carry her name,” he said. “Mira and I feel like this it was meant to happen and that we have finally been able to follow through on our wish.”
The builder for Ella’s House is Joe Cook of JDC Homes, the designer is Dee Dee Harvey of Showhouse Home & Garden, and the architect is Mitch Ginn & Associates.
“The support of the HBA vendors has made the contribution to The Joseph Sams School beyond what we ever expected,” said Bynum.

Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 8, 1-5 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 13, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 14, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 15, 1-5 p.m.
