Starr’s Mill, Northgate and East Coweta are all unbeaten at the midpoint of the football season after their wins Friday night. Northgate is 6-0 while the other two teams are 5-0.
Starr’s Mill 43, Drew 25
The Panthers remained unbeaten after a region win in a game where the two teams combined for nearly 1,000 yards of total offense. Rico Frye ran for 208 yards (160 in the second half) and three touchdowns along with an 18-yard touchdown catch, while Dion Munerlyn added 176 rushing yards and two scores. The defense stepped up big in the fourth quarter with a safety.
Northgate 39, McIntosh 7
For the undefeated Vikings, Kyle McLaren threw three touchdown passes including a 34-yarder to Anthony Dickerson and a 32-yarder to Isaiah Prayor, and Ton Evans added two rushing TDs, one on a 65-yard burst. Evans and Kyle Cater both surpassed 100 rushing yards on the night. Kamari Ray added a touchdown on the ground. The Chiefs’ lone score came on Matt Smith’s 90-yard fumble return,
East Coweta 7, Westlake 0
The Indians maintained their perfect record for the 2015 season in a game that saw neither team generate much offense. Reggie Jones scored the game’s only touchdown in the fourth quarter on a fumble return.
Landmark 56, Rockmart 35
Stockton McGuire threw for 236 yards with touchdown passes of 60 yards to Lofton Tidwell and 55 yards to Joey Blount, who also returned an interception 60 yards for a score. Tidwell also scored rushing and on a kickoff return. The Landmark defense held Rockmart to 19 yards in the second half, allowing the War Eagles to come from behind with 35 unanswered points and take control of the game.
Haralson County 35, OLM 13
Trey Robinson scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter and caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Charlie Feldner in the fourth quarter. Robinson led the team with 86 rushing yards and caught 5 passes for 67 yards. Feldner amassed 141 passing yards.
Whitewater 14, Mt. Zion 7
Fayette County and Sandy Creek were off last week.
