A local group is putting together a Georgia Bikers response called “Engines for Emanuel” in support of those affect by the recent shooting at Emanuel AME in Charleston.

The goal is to have bikers traveling 300 miles in support and unity for the church, with each participant raising $300. All the funds will go to the Emanuel AME and their continued ministries in the city of Charleston.

“This is a non-denominational and non-partisan event, but an opportunity to show our support and love for Emanuel AME,” according to a statement from the organizers.

Several local groups and dignitaries are supportive of this event including the Chick-fil-A Moo Cow Bikers, South Fulton Faith Riders, Presiding Elder Emanuel AME Church Norvel Goff, retired AME Church Bishop Carolyn Tyler Guidry, Pastor Mark Anthony of Trinity Church in Sharpsburg, Pastor Tamarkus T. Cook of Saint Smyrna Baptist Church in Newnan, state Sen. Donzella James and Fairburn Councilwoman Lydia Glaize.

The ride is Saturday, Aug. 22, and will begin at Trinity Church in Sharpsburg.
