Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 8, at about 9 p.m. and continue through the night to modify existing lane configurations at the intersection of Newnan Crossing Bypass and Hwy. 34 (Bullsboro Drive).
Newnan Crossing Bypass will be marked for dual left-turn lanes, two through lanes to align with Hwy. 34 Bypass (Millard Farmer Industrial Blvd.), and a dedicated right-turn lane. Hwy. 34 will be marked for dual left-turn lanes onto Hwy. 34 Bypass.
Peek Pavement Markings has been contracted by the city to do the work. They will eradicate existing pavement markings by hydro-blasting, which is the method preferred by the Georgia Department of Transportation and will result in a cleaner look.
New lines will be reflective thermoplastic. Raised reflective pavement markings will be installed to match new thermoplastic lines. Any raised reflective pavement markings missing on Newnan Crossing Bypass from Bullsboro Dr. to Lower Fayetteville Rd. will be replaced.
Loop detectors will be installed following completion of the installation of the thermoplastic pavement markings. The new lanes will be blocked off until such time the loop detectors are operational.
