The 7th annual “Paws for a Purpose Dog Walk and 5-K9 Road Race” is Saturday, April 11, and the Fayette Daybreak Rotary Club is hard at work preparing for the big day.

The annual fundraiser benefits animal welfare groups and is made possible through the efforts of Rotarians, community sponsors, and other volunteers.
“We’re really excited about this year’s event,” said Carol Stallings, “Paws” coordinator and charter member of the Fayette Daybreak Rotary Club. “We have several new sponsors and lots of returning participants. Some of these dogs and their owners have come back year after year. It’s fun to see familiar faces and new ones, too.”

This year’s event will include the dog walk and race, canine contests, drawings for giveaways, and much more. Members of the Sandy Creek High School Interact Club, sponsored by Fayette Daybreak, will also help host the event.
Paws for a Purpose is set for Shamrock Park in Tyrone. Start time for the 5K-9 Road Race is 8:30 a.m. The Dog Walk begins at 10:45 a.m. Registration is online at Active.com and forms are also available at the club website, www.fayettedaybreak.org.

Recipients of the proceeds include Fayette Humane Society (local animal rescue organization), CAREing Paws (provides companion dogs that visit seniors and work with children who are struggling with reading), and Pets for Vets (trains rescued shelter dogs as companion animals for military veterans suffering from PTSD and other conditions). “These organizations do so much for animals and people,” said Lee Dodds, 2014-2015 President of Fayette Daybreak. “It’s our privilege to support their efforts.”
The Fayette Daybreak Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a worldwide humanitarian organization providing services around the globe. Best known for combating polio, Rotary also focuses on promoting peace, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, fighting disease, supporting education, and growing local economies.
