The Newnan home of a Peachtree City police officer and a vehicle in his driveway were struck by .380-caliber bullets during a drive-by incident on Feb. 20. No injuries were reported.
The Feb. 20 incident occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. at the Newnan home of a Peachtree City police officer.
The call to Newnan police by the Peachtree City officer was the second call of the evening related to the discharge of a firearm in the area, according to the incident report.
The Newnan officer was dispatched to the area in response to a report of gunfire when the call from the Peachtree City officer came in, reports said.
The Peachtree City officer and his girlfriend, both of whom were asleep, reported being awakened to the sound of three or four gunshots outside the home.
A neighbor also heard several gunshots but did not see where the shots originated, reports said.
The Newnan officer checked the perimeter of the residence and found five shell casings from a .380-caliber firearm lying in the street in front of the house, according to the incident report.
A further search revealed that the rear bumper of a car in the driveway was hit by two bullets while a bullet hole was found on a front porch rail and another bullets hole was found in the front porch awning, the report said. There were no injuries in the incident.
