Patrons of Fayette Senior Services (FSS) participated in the “Be There 4 Seniors Rally” on Feb. 9 at Liberty Plaza across from the Georgia State Capitol.
Seniors and advocates were rallying in support of increased funding to support home and community care services that would allow older adults to remain in their homes and also be supported by their caregivers.
Each year thousands of seniors are in need of home and community based services that are critical to promoting independence and reducing the number of people on waitlists for in-home services. Skilled care facilities, like nursing homes, cost the state four times more per year than the costs of helping one person remain at home.
The Be There 4 Seniors Rally, though dampened by rain storms, did not keep FSS and other senior facilities from being there to show overwhelming concern for the need for increased funding for services that would affect seniors and the disabled.
For more than 30 years, FSS has been making a meaningful difference in the social, emotional, and physical well-being of adults age 50 and older. FSS provides a variety of services such as Meals on Wheels, Transportation, Information & Referral Assistance, Care Management, In-Home Personal Care, Adult Day Care, Home Repair, and Ani-Meals. FSS’ Life Enrichment center offers a range of social, leisure, travel and fitness activities in both Fayetteville and Peachtree City and also hosts the award-winning Ultimate Café.
