Response to ‘Government Party’ column

Thank you for this outstanding article.

I am from California, my husband is from Nevada. We were in Nevada this summer discussing this very topic. Two of Jim’s small-business-owning brothers had more disturbing stories.

In Reno, Nev., when you call in sick you are (rightfully) paid. However, the government employee who works for you then gets time and a half. Apparently there was a scheme where firefighters intentionally called in sick and their buddies would cover that shift.

They racked up quite a nice supplement salary.

I wasn’t able to find that particular article, but I did find this article to add further blows to the taxpayer. This article is from Clark Country, in Vegas (http://www.8newsnow.com/story/9053383/firefighters-make-thousands-in-ove…). Washoe County is in Northern Nevada (Reno area).

For future articles on such atrocities (unfortunately I am sure they will continue) would you consider putting your facts on a spreadsheet?

Government party vs. taxpayer: salaries, benefits, wage comparisons, vacations, vehicles, etc. The gross discrepancies between the private and government sector might get the attention of those skimming the article.

Thanks again for trying to educate the public.
