It was Thursday night football in Clayton County this week, and the Fayette County Tigers traveled to Riverdale to face Drew in a high-scoring contest where the home team prevailed 44-27.
After a scoreless first quarter, Drew got on the board first with an interception return for a touchdown. The Tigers stormed back, however, as Daveion Nash ran for a score and threw a touchdown pass to Desmond Fletcher to give Fayette County a 14-7 lead.
Drew took a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime thanks to a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
On the Tigers’ first offensive possession of the second half, Nash connected again with Fletcher for a touchdown and Robert Easterwood returned a kickoff to the end zone to give the Tigers a 27-22 lead midway through the third.
But the home team took the lead back for good just before the end of the period and added two more scores in the game’s final six minutes.
The Tigers are back in Fayetteville for their next game, hosting Starr’s Mill Friday night.
