On July 30 at 2:30 p.m., Cassandra Scott will be at The Carnegie in Newnan for Kids Theatre “Sensing Adventure.” Kids will go on a bear hunt using all five of their senses and be asked to describe their experience. Kids can dress up for the occasion. Ages Pre-K through elementary.
Scott currently is Northgate High School’s theater director. She received her BS. Ed. with honors from Columbus State University.
During college, she worked for the college as the resident house manager, was an educator at The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, president of Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honors Fraternity, and on the planning committee for Georgia Thespian Conference. Cassandra just closed The Aristocats Summer Camp at The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County: where 40 4th – 6th grade students auditioned, learned, rehearsed, and performed a production in a week. She will be returning to Northgate for her third year as an educator this fall.
“We are so excited to have Scott here at the Carnegie, said Amy Mapel, Carnegie Director. I’ve seen several of the shows she’s directed including “Pinkalicious” and “Shrek, the Musical” and I know the kids will have a great time!”

The Carnegie is one of the most historically significant structures in downtown Newnan and was built in 1904. The building served as a library until 1987 when a new facility was constructed on Hospital Road. With its iconic lighted sign that states the ‘City of Homes’ on top of the building, citizens recognize the Carnegie when they drive through historic downtown.
The Carnegie was funded by the city of Newnan’s General Fund and partly by 2007 Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). The Carnegie’s cost to be renovated was over $1.5 million dollars to the city.
