On July 12, Southern Ground Amphitheater in Fayetteville hosts an evening of R&B classics with The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards. Opening for the Temps is Atlanta-based group, Soulhound.

Edwards was the first new Temptation to enter the group after their “classic five” heyday, when he replaced David Ruffin as lead singer in July 1968. With his rougher gospel-hewn vocals, Edwards led the group through its psychedelic, funk, and disco periods; two of the Temptations songs he appears on, “Cloud Nine (1968)” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone (1972),” won Grammy Awards. Edwards was the lead singer on many of the other Temptations hits including “I Cant’ Get Next To you” “Ball of Confusion” “Psychedelic Shack” and “My Girl”. The rest is history, as The Temptations became one of the most successful Motown groups in the world.

The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards continue to deliver what is critically recognized as the most authentic Motown sound to audiences around the world with their live performances. With a catalog this deep, there won’t be enough time to play them all, but expect the entire evening to be filled with mega-classic hits from this legendary R&B group.

A few tickets still remain, and range from $20 – $32. Tickets to all shows are available via the website at SouthernGroundAmp.com and at the historic courthouse in Downtown Fayetteville.
