UPDATED 8:06 p.m. June 29 — A 10-year-old boy nearly drowned during a pool party Saturday in Peachtree City, but was rescued by adults who performed lifesaving CPR, according to the Peachtree City Police Department.
The boy was hospitalized overnight and released from the hospital Sunday, according to a next-door neighbor’s posting on the police department’s Facebook page.
The child, who was found submerged in the deep end, was treated by paramedics from the Peachtree City Fire Department. He was flown to Children’s Healthcare in Atlanta in serious condition, police said.
The child had been left unattended for a couple of minutes and did not know how to swim, police said. The party was at a private residence in the city, police said.
Police are urging parents and caregivers to avoid leaving children unattended while swimming, and for children to always swim with a buddy for safety.
