Jim Wilkes, 80 of Fayetteville, passed away April 17, 2014.

Born Nov. 8, 1933 in New Orleans, La., Jim was a graduate of Georgia Tech and a lifelong Ramblin’ Wreck fan; he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a valued employee of Sears in Atlanta for many years. Jim was always involved in his community with Cub Scouts, Junior Achievement, Kiwanis and Fayette Samaritans. He was a member and volunteer at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Wilkes was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Frances R. Wilkes.

He is survived by his two brothers Bill Wilkes and Johnny Wilkes; three children Charlie Wilkes, Jerry Wilkes and Elizabeth Bryant; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Jim’s life with his family and friends was held at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Sanctuary on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11 a.m.
