Prevent Child Abuse Fayette will hold its fifth annual benefit dinner today. For the last four years, some of the finest community leaders become servers in a local restaurant to raise funds that will enable PCA Fayette to provide child abuse prevention training at no or low cost for professionals, youth, faith organizations and the community at large.

The sights and sounds of The Greatest Generation will come alive when the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing hosts the eleventh annual “WWII Heritage Days” April 26-27. The history festival will be held at The Historical Airpower Facility, Atlanta Regional Airport-Falcon Field in Peachtree City from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days.The weekend will again feature historic aircraft, antique cars, vintage military vehicles, guest speakers, education displays, demonstrations by reenactors portraying Allied and Axis troops, and activities for school age kids. Highlights include an opening ceremony recognizing local WWII veterans and a 1940’s hangar dance.
The theme of the 2014 opening ceremony, Honoring The Women of The Greatest Generation, will pay tribute to women who served in the military and on the Home Front. The Senoia Area Historical Society (SAHS) is sponsoring an easy 3-hour bicycle tour of historic Senoia for bicyclists of all ages and abilities. The tour is great for people interested in the history of the area, interesting architecture, tales of residents past and present, and the sites where such films and TV episodes have been shot. The tour starts at 9 a.m. It will begin and end at the SAHS Headquarters/Museum at 6 Couch Street in Senoia, where riders will have the opportunity to view a brief history of the town and images of some of Senoia’s key citizens and structures from the past, then ride through the Senoia Historic District, making stops in front of homes and churches. Recommended donations are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 13. All proceeds benefit the Senoia Area Historical Society. Donations are tax deductible. Helmets are required.
