A Decatur man who travelled to Fayette County on Feb.19 to meet women he met on the Internet got a bit more than he bargained for. After driving the three 18-year-old Fayetteville women to a sparsely populated area of south Fayette County at their request, the man was beaten, robbed, threatened with a knife and had his car stolen.
Brianna Gibson, Keanna Gibson and Allawni Ford were charged with two counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, hijacking a motor vehicle, and kidnapping, said Sheriff Barry Babb. Keanna Gibson and Brianna Gibson are sisters, Babb said.
Babb said deputies on Feb. 19 responded to a robbery call off Inman Road. Deputies were met along the roadside by the Decatur man who said he met the three female perpetrators on the Internet. He traveled to Fayetteville to meet one of the women at an apartment complex, but found all three there when he arrived, said Babb.
For unknown reasons the man and the three women entered his vehicle, where the women at their request led him to Weldon Place off Inman Road in south Fayette County, Babb said.
It was at that location the man was supposed to drop the women off. The three women exited the vehicle, but two of them came around to the driver’s door and began punching the man, Babb said. He was pulled from the car and struck several more times before being threatened with a knife. The women demanded his wallet and keys. After he gave the women what they demanded, they took his car and fled the scene, said Babb.
The man used his cell phone to call for assistance, Babb said.
The man suffered numerous lacerations during the altercation, said Babb.
Babb said investigators quickly identified the women and made the arrest. The three are currently housed in the Fayette County Jail.
