Welch Elementary School recently held a memorial service for Alexa Comfort, a young student who passed away earlier this year after suffering a variety of medical conditions. Alexa’s mother donated a cherry tree to the school to symbolize the kindness and love that filled Alexa’s short life. “Alexa never imposed any great demands on anyone, and her mother would tell of how she would excitedly babble after school each day. She enjoyed school and the simple pleasures of life, and loved being held, talked to, read to and listening to music most of all,” said principal Becky Darrah.
